October 21st - DEMO JAM

Hallo, Allies!

Thanks to your dedication, we survived NYCC! We hope you all make a quick recovery, as the semester doesn't seem to be letting up. Tomorrow we'll be having a chat with Alison Bechdel, and to help you get back on your game, we've got a fun Friday night planned. Prepare for our next operation...

DEMO JAM
An Evening of Wisdom and Righteousness
This Friday, 10/21
6:30 - Room 703G

Wanna test your hand with a new tool? Still inking with microns? Looking to pump out ridiculously stupendous collaborative comics?

Join us for our jam comics marathon! We'll be hosting five stations, including traditional nibs, brushpens, and COPIC markers, each with its own jam comic. Test out a tool, draw a panel, and move on to the next booth in this kinetic improvisational comic spree!

And don't forget to check out our other business below, especially if you sold minicomics at NYCC or would like to submit your work for review on the CA blog!

Other business:
  • If you sold minicomics at NYCC, be sure to pick them up with your money at this week's meeting! If you don't, next week will be your last chance to collect your earnings.
  • Have you checked out last week's articles on the SVA blog? New articles will be posted every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This week, be sure to read Eric's thoughts on Rocketeer AdventuresHayley's latest student comic review, and Kou's report on our meeting with Mark Siegel!
  • Do you want publicity for your minicomics? Enter the Mini Reviews Box. Bring your minicomics to our meetings or the Senior Studio to submit them for review on the Cartoon Allies blog. Each week, bloggers Eric and Hayley will randomly select a student's mini from the box and offer readers a preview of the comic and their thoughts. We hope to improve student promotion and give members a space to show their work to a greater audience.
  • If you would like to be listed on our Members page, email your name, year, website url, and 50x50px icon to cartoonallies@gmail.com with the subject line "Active Member [Name]". As we collect a nice group of links, we'll update our long out-of-date Active Members list.
  • If you're interested in helping us distribute Cartoon Allies event posters, let us know by email or at the next meeting.
  • The SVA Library now has access to a new Underground Comix Database. Check it out!
Stay strong, Allies!
